116 days. 8 countries. 34 cities. 42 hotels. 20 flights. 32 buses. 1 elephant ride. 1000 awesome moments. fin.
I will miss the blurry rides, the people, the food, the wonder. I will miss the freedom, the heat and the sun, and the constant exhaustion. I will miss you, asia. and I’ll be back. (Taken with instagram)
we just finished our final day of diving for the trip. though we were exhausted crawling out after three dives, we are sad it’s over. diving has dominated the second half of our trip, and it’s been incredible. today was about rich reef life, tons of eels & turtles and enjoying the freakishly clear water of the philippines. happy :)
final stats for the trip:
25 total dives
22:08 total dive time
deepest dive: 32 meters
longest dive: 70 minutes (today!)
we will have super limited Internet for the final week of our trip, so just google El Nido for an appropriate amount of jealousy. I’ll put up an update before we head home next tuesday!
I mean, seriously. how does something this cute exist?? well, they’re endangered, which is really sad and probably the reason they said no when I tried to buy one.
they ONLY exist on this one island. crazy!
today we went on a whirlwind tour of Bohol, which was cheesy & touristy, but a great way to see the main sites and the gorgeous countryside! first up were the chocolate hills, pictured, which turn brown (duh, like chocolate) in the dry months. it gave us an incredible view of the island :)
we also saw the worlds smallest primate, the tarsier, which was the cutest thing either of us had ever seen (photos to follow). after that, we went on a terrifying suspended bridge, a floating restaurant and a few other places. we are bad at being tourists - we get pissy after a couple locations where they herd us in huge crowds to line up and take photos. grr.
diving in the philippines has been gorgeous so far, with really dramatic drop offs, huge coral fan gardens and endless sea turtles. we also had a great sea snake sighting, but brian kept a safe distance so you can’t really see it in the photos he took ;)
